ISH Hosts First Impact Symposium
On Monday, June 3rd, the ISH community gathered at the UCLA Botanical Gardens for the initiative’s first major public event, the Impact Symposium. The symposium was a cross-disciplinary and cross-sector effort, bringing together researchers from over 25 disciplines across campus as well as a wide range of extramural partners–including policymakers and practitioners working to fight against hate.
ISH researchers shared significant findings that promise to lay the foundation for future research and interventions, and panels comprised of researchers and extramural partners explored key definitional questions related to hate and considered how research can best inform programming and policy aimed at mitigating hate. ISH is extremely grateful to our ISH researchers for two years of rigorous work and to the esteemed partners in attendance, including the California Commission on the State of Hate and L.A. Civil Rights.
