Research Projects on Islamophobia and Antisemitism
Responding to the events of October 7 and the aftermath in Gaza, ISH has awarded a total of 15 grants to researchers studying the history and alarming rise of antisemitism and Islamophobia in this country and around the world. The Islamophobia research hub is housed in ISH, while the antisemitism hub, which is supported by the Pritzker Foundation, is a collaboration between ISH and the Alan D. Leve Center for Jewish Studies.
Core Research Team
In ISH’s third year, the in-house “research hub” will continue to examine some of the core research questions animating the study of hate. This hub is comprised of Professor David N. Myers, Professor Aaron Panofsky, and four post-doctoral scholars.
Research Innovation Fund
In its third year, the UCLA Initiative to Study Hate has distributed $350,000 in research funds to 2 large-scale, continuing research projects and 7 smaller-scale, new research projects that place particular emphasis on understanding and designing anti-hate prevention, reduction, and mitigation strategies. Researchers from this cohort hail from more than ten disciplines and divisions on campus.
Other research projects and opportunities for the 2024-2025 academic year will be announced soon.
